Spotlight on Literacy: Introducing "Strive for 5" Conversations
This school year, we are excited to launch "Strive for 5," a simple yet powerful framework designed to accelerate your child’s language comprehension, vocabulary, and reading success through daily conversation.
What is "Strive for 5"?
Developed by early literacy researchers Tricia Zucker and Sonia Cabell, "Strive for 5" encourages adults to stretch ordinary chats with children into five back-and-forth turns.
What to Expect
Oral language is the bedrock of reading. Each month, we will share easy, practical ways you can use the "Strive for 5" strategy at home—during dinner, on car rides, or while reading bedtime stories together—to help your child's confidence and language skills soar!
